Idols Never Die: Surviving the Scene
"If a show by this band ["Idols Never Die.] was on MTV just once, they'd blow bands like Godsmack, Incubus and all the rest right out of heavy rotation." --METROLAND
Evolution is the key to survival and Albany, NY's IDOLS NEVER DIE., formerly the Clay People, is thriving, recording and coming back with a new found sound and singer! "After seven years of being one way, we decided to put the Clay People to rest and pursue a more focused songwriting style backed with a much bigger sound," says guitarist Mike Guzzardi.
Working with famed Producer Mike Clink (whose credits include Guns n' Roses among them), the band was able to return to the musicianship that separated them from 95% of the bands meagerly attempting to break the charts. Seven years of explosive, high-energy live shows throughout the United States and Europe coupled with appearances on soundtracks that included Universal Solider: The Return and Dee Snyder's Strangeland, the band felt that a change was in order and in joining forces with former label exec David Chackler at Chackler's & Dinsmores new label, OVERIT RECORDS, the group laid down the plan.
This plan included recording the full length album right away. By December of 2003, the band: Mike Guzzardi, Dan Dinsmore and Dave Stafford, parted ways with their former singer and began the search for a "true" singer that could unify vocal ability with the new and more musically-driven sounds IDOLS, was writing and tracking for the new record...Enter Rocco DiDonna. DiDonna walked in and was immediately worked into the new project strictly on the merits of his work in and around the Albany music scene where his vocal abilities were of local legend status. DiDonna was so impressed with the band's initial new demos that he dropped all other projects to join IDOLS NEVER DIE.
With DiDonna onboard, The band found a perfect collaborative relationship and music came forth that was undeniably large. During this time and over the next several months, IDOLS NEVER DIE., began to build the machine again . As 2005 approaches summer, IDOLS NEVER DIE., is gearing up for their new release ELECTION DAY FIRE and will be hitting the road Fall of 2005.
